ABOUT

The Half Moon Bay Yacht Club is a 501(c)(7) non-profit organization that is managed and operated through its Board of Directors, employees, and staff volunteers. Everyone involved in Club operations strives to make the experience truly great for all members. There are many ways for members to enjoy the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club.

Recreational Sailing

Go for a sail inside Pillar Point Harbor; after all, we are a yacht club!  Our Club offers a very rare benefit to members: we own fleets of Cal 20’s, C-15s, Lasers, Flying Juniors, and Optimists for our members to use, at no additional cost.  We are not sure all people would consider the Club’s boats "yachts" in the traditional sense of the word, but to the Club members they are a wonderful way to spend time on the water and to learn to sail. With programs such as Wednesday night sailing, Friday beer can racing, and Sunday sailing, members can practice sailing or just go out for the fun of it. And on Sunday afternoons, we welcome the public to come and join one of our Skippers for a sail, so you can see what a great club we are.   Our extensive Women Sailing program is specifically designed to get women out on the water, with women skippers and women instructors.

Adult and Youth Sailing Instruction

Whether a newcomer to sailing or an experienced sailor, the Club’s educational program can provide benefit. It includes adult sailing classes, our award-winning youth sailing camps, seminars, informal race days, and hands-on training on the water using the Club’s fleet of boats.

Social Events

We guarantee meeting interesting people and making wonderful new friends at the Club’s many catered and guest chef dinners and BBQ's, movie nights, and other social events. The Club's facilities are open Friday through Sunday of each week for relaxing and mingling.

Children and Pets

We actively welcome and encourage both! Our beach provides an excellent and safe playground for families to wade in the water, build sandcastles, chase balls, ride our ferry to the dock, or just relax with a good book. We just ask that adequate supervision and water safety precautions are observed.

Half Moon Bay Yacht Club Foundation

The Half Moon Bay Yacht Club Foundation is a separate entity that is associated with the Club. It is currently focusing on adaptive sailing, hosting several event per year for sailors and wannabe sailors with disabilities.
