Youth Sailing Award

BIG news for HMBYC from the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association last night: our Youth Sailing program was awarded the Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Trophy for “having made the greatest advancement during the current year in promoting youth activity in yachting, including instruction in boat-handling proficiency, seamanship, and safety.”

Congratulations to Youth Sailing Director Des Cullen and lead instructor Jacob Abrahams, shown here with the trophy. PICYA represents clubs throughout northern California. The Nimitz Trophy is the oldest award that PICYA gives out, originally sponsored by Admiral Nimitz himself back in the mid-1950’s.

Just as big news: long-time member (and former PICYA Commodore) Liz Allison was awarded the Douglas Boswell Trophy as Yachtsman Of The Year, for her distinguished and outstanding service to boating and yachting. Congratulations, Liz!
